Under the "Access to Safe & Sustainable Water Supply" project funded by CRS Private Fund, significant progress has been made in the installation of solar-powered water pumping systems. The initiative targets underserved communities with the aim of providing clean, reliable, and environmentally friendly water access. During the current phase, installation work has been carried out across selected sites, involving the setup of solar panels, submersible pumps, controller units, and associated civil works such as pump housing and mounting structures. In most locations, the physical infrastructure is now complete, with solar panels successfully mounted and pumps installed.

Alongside installation, pump testing and commissioning activities have begun to ensure all systems meet the required performance standards. Tests include discharge capacity, pump head, solar efficiency, and automated operational reliability. At several sites, pumps have already passed performance tests, with results confirming consistent flow rates and efficient energy utilization under varying sunlight conditions. Local operators have been engaged in preliminary system handling, and orientation sessions have started to build community-level ownership and capacity.

The project has experienced minor logistical challenges, mainly related to the transportation of materials to remote areas and temporary weather disruptions. However, these have been managed effectively through coordinated efforts with local partners. The remaining activities include final testing at the few pending sites, technical training for Water User Committees, and formal community handovers. Overall, the solar pump installation and testing works are progressing well and remain aligned with the project’s timeline and objective of ensuring sustainable access to safe water for vulnerable communities.
