The four-day Youth Festival of the Sodo Diocese, held under the theme “The Gospel Mission Renewed by the Grace of Jubilee in Christ,” concluded successfully with vibrant spiritual engagement and active youth participation.
June marked a significant milestone for the RPP Project (Resilience and Social Protection for Vulnerable Populations), implemented under the broader “Strengthening Food Security and WASH Services” initiative in Soddo. A key achievement during this period was the successful completion of the second round of unconditional cash transfers to vulnerable households. This round built upon the groundwork laid during the first distribution in May and represents the second of three planned rounds designed to enhance household resilience and meet immediate food security and livelihood needs.

Under the "Access to Safe & Sustainable Water Supply" project funded by CRS Private Fund, significant progress has been made in the installation of solar-powered water pumping systems. The initiative targets underserved communities with the aim of providing clean, reliable, and environmentally friendly water access. During the current phase, installation work has been carried out across selected sites, involving the setup of solar panels, submersible pumps, controller units, and associated civil works such as pump housing and mounting structures. In most locations, the physical infrastructure is now complete, with solar panels successfully mounted and pumps installed.
This Easter, we were truly blessed to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord with H.E. Bishop Dejene Hidoto and the entire team from the Social and Community Services (SCS). Easter is not only a sacred cornerstone of our Christian faith—it is a powerful reminder of God’s immense love, the triumph of life over death, and the promise of eternal hope.
We mourn the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025. A humble shepherd and voice of compassion, his life touched millions around the world.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Soddo joyfully organized a spiritual Youth Retreat that brought together young Catholics from across the Vicariate for a day of reflection, prayer, and renewal. The retreat was held at Soddo Cathedral of Holy Trinity, under the theme “Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith,” inspired by Colossians 2:7.

On March 20, 2025, the clergy, religious sisters, lay faithful, and staff of the Apostolic Vicariate of Soddo came together to console our beloved Bishop, His Excellency Dejene Hidoto Gamo, O.F.M. Cap, following the passing of his dear brother two weeks ago.
